AU PETIT SALUT, UPSCALE FRENCH IN SINGAPORE

We all know - or at least those living here in Singapore do -that you can find practically any kind of cuisine here.  Not only different kinds of cuisine but also completely different price scales.  From the local hawker fare at $5 a plate all the way up to high end gourmet restaurants bearing the name of some "celebrity" chef or other.

Today, I had a nice Friday lunchtime treat and went to the upscale French, Au Petit Salut at Harding Road to try their set price weekday lunch.  Recommend booking as they do fill up.

I must say the entry way from the car park did not look that appealing, but once down the stairs the space opens up into a lovely covered outdoor seating area, as well as a pleasant indoor seating area.  Along the back, which is the front (if you get my drift) is another outside area, this is the picture you see on their website.

The tables are nicely set, clean and crisp and done in a very simple but appealing way.

The lunch is a set price of S$38++ for 3 courses, some items on the menu cost extra.  To start I had the Pork Rilletes, Violet mustard & sage, whilst my friend had the Froi Gras with hazelnuts and Mirabelle plums.  Both very yummy.

Our mains were the Fillet of Snapper with a mushroom & Parmesan, Jerusalem artichoke emulsion for me.  Very interesting served in a little cup.
My friend chose the Cappellini pasta with crab, tiger prawns, baby scallops, tomato and herbs.

Both were very nice, the emulsion especially was a very interesting addition to the fish which I enjoyed.

Dessert was super good and very decadent.  I am not normally a dessert person, but this Chocolate Gateaux with morello cherries, chocolate crumble and cherry sorbet, hit the spot.

It was a very pleasant lunch, especially as the setting there at Harding Road is so nice and peaceful, you could here each other talk.  The service also was very good, that alone being a treat here in Singapore.
