BIRTHDAY 52 - LIME AT THE PARK ROYAL, SINGAPORE

This past Easter Sunday saw me celebrating my Birthday (along with the Easter Bunny) at Lime, the wonderful restaurant at the Park Royal Hotel on Upper Pickering Street.

Having never done one of the famous Singapore Sunday "brunches" before, I thought it was about time we tried one.

Of the myriad of choices here in Singapore for brunches, (nearly all the major Hotels do them), I chose Lime partly because the food looked delicious, partly because it looked like a nice light airy space, and lastly, because the price compared to the majority was pretty reasonable (had not bargained for them adding another S$20 per head to the usual price because it was Easter Sunday, but I guess somebody has to pay the Easter Bunny!!)

We arrived a little early for the 12 noon start.  As we waited in the foyer area for the restaurant to open, we could see the chefs very proudly taking photos of themselves with their lovely Easter ice sculpture creations.

It seems if you are going to take best advantage of the free flow food and champagne/wine, you might as well get there at the first opportunity to make the most of your three hours of gastronomic debauchery.  Apparently, everyone else had the same idea, we milled around in a very civilized fashion in the foyer area waiting for them to open, as soon as it was open, we were off and the rush began!! No sooner shown to their tables, diners were grabbing plates and crowding all the food stations to fill up them up.  (Visions of stampeding cattle sprung to mind ha ha!) We decided that discretion is the better part of valor, so we hung back a little and waited for our first glass of Piper Hiedsiek Champagne to arrive.  This did in fact take a little while to arrive, but once we had our glass, the service for Champagne and wine was very good indeed.  We were also served their signature lime juice which was delicious.

After a few minutes the rush died down and we were able to take a look at the wonderful food presentations available to us.  There was a bounty of fresh raw and cooked seafood, salads, meats, roasts with vegetables, fabulous cheeses, breads and of course desserts.  There was Chilli Crab and Laksa too, so a mix of Western and Asian food.   I am not the best at blogging about food, and as it was my birthday I decided not to spend too much time snapping pictures of all the food on offer.  However at the end of this post I have put a link, connecting you to a fellow blogger who has done a fabulous job of documenting the food at Lime, so I encourage you to head over to My Life In Sin, and take a peak.
It really is a lovely setting for a Sunday Brunch, the food was fantastic, so fresh and enticing.  It is very pleasant to spend three hours "grazing", people watching and generally relaxing.  Being Easter, we had a visit from the Easter Bunny - who does not want a snap with the Bunny (well hubby actually).  Not me, I had to get my extra $20 worth lol!

Although the price of S$148++ per person (usually it is S$128++ for buffet and free flow alcohol), seems steep, when you think about how much just a bottle of wine alone can cost when dining out here in this Town, it is not too bad.  I had a great time anyway, and will definitely be Sunday "brunching" again sometime soon I hope.
