BUT TRAVELING IS FUN.
I was fortunate earlier this week, to be one of the 25 bloggers who got to attend the very first BlogmeetSG, an awesome networking event for Singapore bloggers, wonderfully organised by Lucy from Lulabelle Lifestyle.
Hosted atEdit Lifestyle Boutique in the Tudor Court building on Tanglin Road, the evening was full of lovely surprises, goody bags and most of all the opportunity to get to meet face to face with other Singapore bloggers I have been following on social media since I started my own blog in 2011.
The Edit Lifestyle Boutique with it's whitewashed floors and light, airy feel, was the perfect venue. Had to pinch myself that I was actually in Singapore, such was the chic "South of France" beach vibe throughout the store. The boutique carries brands from all over the world, clothing, shoes, accessories and home wares, a little something for everyone.
I asked Bill Cain of Hat of Cain, how he got into the hat business. He told me that when he could not find a decent hat in SIngapore, he decided to just import them himself. HisPanama hats (which are actually authentically handcrafted in Equador, where the original hat came from) were a great hit with the bloggers, each of us going home with our very own hat. Bill carries 12 different styles in his Joo Chiat shophouse boutique. I hope to go and visit sometime soon to check out all the styles for myself.
Chocolate is hard to resist at the best of times, Leela's Fine Chocolates, one of the brands in attendance at the blogmeet soon had a gathering of willing tasters! The first thing that struck me was Leela's passion for what she does. All her chocolates are hand made by Leela herself (must be so time consuming), and the result is pure perfection. She uses all fresh ingredients and the finest European chocolate and has created some very interesting and unique taste combinations. One such combo, Rosemary and Olive Oil Grenache was one of my favourites, the rosemary was ever so subtle but truly went well with the chocolate. She told me she steeps fresh Rosemary in cream in order to create the desired flavour. The pinapple tart chocolates, (pictured below left) are Leela's own favourite at the moment - certainly perfect for Chinese New Year.
One of the prizes of the evening (sadly I did not win), was a lovely Typographic map of Singapore, created by Sabine from Just My Type. It was lovely to see Sabine again as last year she created a personalised map for a friend as a leaving gift. These maps can be customised and really are a great gift, I know my friend was absolutely thrilled with her map - a lovely lasting reminder of her stay here in Singapore. Sabine also kindly donated some cards for our goody bags which I love. Thanks Sabine!!
Talking of goody bags!! Lucy did an amazing job of gathering some great brands as sponsors for this very first Blogmeet in SG. There were some great treats on the night and also some lovely take away gifts in our little brown bag.
I would like to thank all the brands for the wonderful gifts, I truly feel very fortunate to have attended this event. And finally, once again, thanks to Lucy at Lulabelle Lifestyle for pulling it all together, you did an incredible job - looking forward to next year.
