CONGRATULATIONS SINGAPORE! 50 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE

August 9th 2015 will see Singapore celebrate their Golden Jubilee in massive style.

Rehearsals for the big day have been going on for the last few months and will culminate in a big parade, fly over of aircraft and firework extravaganza at a stadium built especially for the occasion on The Padang.

Everywhere the red and white of Singapore and the SG50 symbol have been evident and increasing as SG50 fever takes over.

Over the past few Saturdays we have witnessed some fantastic aerial flyovers and fireworks.  Hard to believe that these are only rehearsals for the big day.  It seems no expense has been spared and Singapore is going all out to make sure everything is perfect for the 9th August.

Singapore has declared two days of public holiday, Friday 7th and Monday 10th August, giving a wonderful four day weekend.  For us, the lure of being able to take a long break for fewer holiday days was too much, so we will be heading out of Singapore to take a holiday in Australia, therefore missing the major celebration.

Congratulations Singapore!  We have been privileged to have lived here for the last four years and to have witnessed the rehearsals for your big day has been quite spectacular.
