It's New Years Eve, and as we lie on the edge of 2012, looking forward to another Year, I am thankful that the Mayans were wrong, there will be a 2013!
Heading back to Singapore after spending Christmas and indeed the last 6 months, in the USA. I am looking forward to once again getting back in step with Singapore, and I must admit relishing the thought of some warmth.
The past 6 months however have been pretty monumental, and the extended sojourn in Virginia worth the result as I am now a proud Citizen of both the UK and the USA! Please don’t ask me who I will be cheering for if the USA ever play England in a World cup soccer game (see, now I say soccer instead of football!) it will be a tough one for sure. I won’t forget my British roots, but after 17 years of living in the USA, my adopted Country is where I will return when our time in Singapore is up, and proudly so.
My extended stay back in Virginia was a busy one, apart from catching up with my friends and neighbors, I got to spend time with my wonderful kids and their respective pooches, June and Cookie! Quite a few visits to the dog park lol!
My daughter graduated from Christopher Newport University. She received her Alumni pin at a short Champagne reception in December, the main Cap and Gown affair to take place in May of 2013. We are very proud of her and her accomplishment.
My friend Anna came out from the UK to stay at Thanksgiving. We spent a week shopping, sightseeing, and discovered Sweet Frog, frozen yoghurt and topping heaven! Yum!
I also got to return to my roots to visit my mum, who still lives in the cottage where I grew up. This cottage which has been her home for 49 years has very special memories of an idyllic childhood for me (I feel a post coming on in the not too distant future).
Finally, we got to spend a lovely quiet Christmas with the kids (and pooches) before heading back to Singapore just in time for the New Year.
Now that I am back in Singapore I must get my blogging act together - a good 2013 resolution I think, along with the usual diet and exercise one. Guess I can no longer blame the potential end of the World for my bad eating habits lol! Blast those Mayans! HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! Peace and love to you all, may 2013 be good to you.

You guys are so cute...will miss you in Singapore! Please do write a post about where you grew up. I've heard so much about your Mom's place -- great to finally see a picture of it!
